Clipped Wings

On a new journey, I now embark,
Lonely is the road, and tuneless is the song,
It’s freezing cold, lacking warmth,
This is how it is, when you are gone.

When from the song bird, you did migrate,
When you stepped down, and deserted,
Did you know how hard she tried?
To flap her wings, she tried to glide.

But shadow’s wings, alas, are clipped,
Her claws are worn, chipped,
She is fatigued, with her scream,
She always thought that you were in the same team.

She is trying, again, to reach the skies,
Where you linger, my angel, she tries to rise,
But alas, she is tied,
To the ground, she cannot arise.

She is not you, my angel; her clipped wings are useless,
She cannot reach you, she can’t find success.
Because she cannot aviate, she cannot climb,
But she continues to try, futile.

When she can’t reach the skies, why can’t you,
Look to the ground, and see the songbird’s attempt,
Why can’t your heart melt, why can’t you descend,
And free the songbird of her guilt, oh, why can’t you?
